Oh I really like this painting!!! I am not sure where the idea came from. I had an old piece of oak wood. I started playing around with an angel design.... The rest just flowed with ease. Maybe I was in need of a bit of ABUNDANCE in my own life- so I thought I would paint it. The oil colors are so very vibrant. Its such a stunning piece- a small size painting that really packs a BIG visual punch. I love it. I like it so much I may do some furniture and a few more wood pieces.

Up for auction on eBay are my latest little creations. Most often I like to paint LARGE- I mean really big- a small wall works well for me. When painting large I can capture plenty of details. Still paintings that are very large take weeks to produce, cost $1000s and not everyone has wall space for the very large pieces. So I decided to see what was selling well on eBay. It does seem that there are a number of collectors who want and will pay about $100 for small trading card size paintings. ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals. They are always 2.5 by 3.5 inches. I bought myself a better pair of close up reading glasses and gave it a try. Here are the first 3 of a series of 9 ACEO original paintings. Its a collection of old world mermaids with positive messages. My Mermaids have been waiting for a chance to speak...After the nine originals have sold I will sell a small limited edition of ACEO prints. Sort of fun painting these little pieces and I have lots and lots of series ideas. Sort of nice to be creating and painting every day- plus inch for inch you get more money for the time spent painting. An ACEO painting a day just might keep the bill collectors away.

Today I am putting my original oil painting "Contemplation" on Ebay. This is a large painting with a poem I wrote painted around the edges. Its time to sell this piece. I will use the profits to stock up on giclee prints and greeting cards of my images for the 2008 holiday season. I am hoping the eBay market will find the perfect customers for this piece. It might make a lovely Christmas gift for someone. And I have a low reserve - so it might make an affordable gift as well.

I created this painting last year for an abstract gallery called GROVE in Aurora NY. When I captured this painting in order to reproduce it for greeting cards I digitally enhanced the colors. The image is very vibrant and the clover revised has become one of my best selling cards at the Ithaca Farmers market. And I am now ready to go back the canvas and repaint this clover. I will be making several large custom clover oil paintings in the 24 by 30 inch size with this the revised colors to match this image. I will be taking custom orders and selling these paintings for $375. If you would like a custom original oil painting of my sweet clover image you can purchase one online on my Etsy site. www.mermaidmessenger.Etsy.com or email me at artofDee@gmail.com. Cheers Dee

I was just remembering how much fun it was to paint BIG!!!! This painting is double mermaid I did a few years ago on a old wooden pool table. The painting went to a Vermont family. I wonder if they ever managed to hang it on the wall??? It was kind of heavy. I am getting ready for the Ithaca farmers market this weekend and pondering the idea of painting or having a print made to fit the six foot old barn door I found this week. it will look great- but will it fir in the car????

The Wild Flower Goddess painting took me most of the summer to complete. I was influenced by the events that surrounded me this summer like the abundance of wildflowers that grow here in the finger lakes during the summer and corn harvesting time. The painting features a vibrant sky full of roses, a distant corn field and an African American woman engulfed in a bed of wild flowers. Chicory, queen annes laces and sweet clover and a few balck-eyed-susans stand out in this summertime painting.
The original painting is up for sale on Ebay starting at $1800 or Best Offer. The first few canvas prints are now available on my Etsy site. www.mermaidmessenger.Etsy.com

This painting titled "The Enchanted Goat" is going online today at my Etsy gallery. The painting is very large (28 by 36.5 inches) and is painted in the Vincent Van Gogh style- so say my customers at the Ithaca farmers market. It does have rich vibrant colors with thick textured layers oil paint. This is part of a series of 12 animals of the zodiac paintings I will be creating this year. If you would like to be the proud owner of this piece you can go to http://mermaidmessenger.etsy.com to view all the details or email me. Cheers Dee

No blog time for me this week. I was busy teaching about 10 little artists at my first summer week long art camp. It was a lot of fun- but very BUSY. The kids named the camp "Camp creative". we spend a lot of time working on one painting featuring one of the historical buildings in Aurora. We learned a bit about why the Town of Aurora was named and the significance of Peach trees in this area. In the afternoons we listened to records and created all sorts of art with different mediums. Great kids, Great art and Great fun.
